This video will teach you how to setup the Navigate360 Visitor Management System to post attendance to PowerSchool. Written instructions can be found below the video player.
PowerSchool Setup
Step 1: Log into https://navigate360vm.com/login using your login credentials.
Step 2: Navigate to the Admin Menu on the left side of your screen.
Step 3: Click on “PowerSchool Setup”.
Step 4: Fill in the required fields:
- PowerSchool URL (example: https://ps.nav360academy.com)
- Client ID
- Client Secret
- Attendance Mode
- Transfer Mode
Step 5: Click on “Save Settings”.
PowerSchool Writeback Mode
The PowerSchool writeback enables each school that uses the Student function of VMS to transfer information back to their PowerSchool instance. Once setup, any time a student event happens in VMS, it is instantly transferred to PowerSchool without any additional work needed from the school.
For example, if a student has a check-in late or has to check-out early, the event will writeback to PowerSchool.
Note:
The Transfer Mode/Instant option has been removed from the settings page. The tooltip on the settings page reflects that the transfer mode is always instant.
PowerSchool Writeback Settings - District Admin
If the school district uses PowerSchool, the integration process can be done to write back any student events in your Visitor Management System. When a student checks in late or out early, it will instantly send that information back to the school’s PowerSchool instance. District Admin users need to complete the initial setup to use this function.
As a District Admin:
- Navigate to the Admin page
- Choose the PowerSchool Setup tab
- From this screen, enter their information for the following fields:
- PowerSchool URL
- Client ID
- Client Secret
- Select from the following options:
- Attendance Mode
- Daily
- Time
- Meeting
- Visible Student ID
- SIS ID
- Student Number
- Attendance Mode
- Once set up, click save. This will push the selected options to all schools. You can choose to prevent schools from overriding these options.
PowerSchool Writeback Settings - Building Admin
If the school district uses PowerSchool, the integration process can be done to write back any student events in your Visitor Management System. When a student checks in late or out early, it will instantly send that information back to the school’s PowerSchool instance. District Admin users need to complete the initial setup to use this function. If a district admin has not prevented schools from doing so, building admins can update options for their schools.
As a Building Admin:
- Navigate to the Admin page
- Choose the PowerSchool Setup tab
- From this screen, you will see the following fields:
- PowerSchool URL
- Client ID
- Client Secret
- The information in these fields was set by the district admin and building admins can’t change them
- Select from the following options:
- Attendance Mode
- Daily
- Time
- Meeting
- Visible Student ID
- SIS ID
- Student Number
- Attendance Mode
- Once options have been selected and saved, these changes will reflect only for their school. If a district admin has prevented schools from changing settings, the building admin will not be able to select/update any options.
