Self-Serve Enhancements
Self-Serve Setup - Guardian Persona:
Admin users will see a new Guardian section added to the Self-Serve Setup page. Enabling this option will add a new Student Check-in and Check-out workflow to the Self-Serve Kiosk, requiring a Parent/Guardian to scan their ID or QR Code from the mobile app before checking their student(s) in late or out early.
Click here to learn how these changes will impact your school and the actions you may need to take before the enhancements go into effect.
Guardian ID Scanning for Student Late Check-ins & Early Check-outs:
When the Guardian persona is enabled with the Scan Government-issued ID option checked on the Self-Serve Setup page, all users will see a new Guardian button displayed on the Self-Serve kiosk. When using this workflow, guardians will scan their government-issued ID for improved accountability before selecting one or more students that have been linked to their profile.
Each student late check-in and early check-out is backed by a series of security checks; such as identifying duplicate profiles, verifying linked students, and flagging individuals who may be blocklisted, registered sex offenders, or have custody-related restrictions. If any of these checks flag a guardian, VM will seamlessly move to the staff-assisted resolution workflow to quickly address any security flags, helping reduce risks without delaying the process.
Mobile App Enhancements
QR Code Scanning for Scheduled Late Check-ins & Early Check-outs:
When the Guardian persona is enabled with the Guardian - QR Code scanning option checked on the Self-Serve Setup page, visitors who have been invited to the Visitor Check-in mobile app will have the ability to schedule student late check-ins and early check-outs for students linked to their profile, including the ability to schedule for more than one student at a time. After scheduling the student check-in/check-out, they will receive a QR Code that can be easily accessed from the home screen.
Once they arrive at the school on the scheduled date, guardians can quickly scan the QR Code to complete the student check-in/check-out at the Self-Serve kiosk.
